The American Society of Appraisers is an international organization of appraisal professionals and others interested in the appraisal profession. ASA is the oldest and only major appraisal organization representing all of the disciplines of appraisal specialists.
The National Aircraft Appraisers Association (NAAA) is the Trade Association for professional aircraft appraisers. Since 1980 the NAAA has been the Certification entity, and has established the standards and Code of Ethics for professional aircraft appraisers in the United States and abroad.
The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice were developed in 1989 with the expressed purpose of promoting and preserving public trust and confidence in the appraisal profession. Viewed as the standard in the real estate market, USPAP appraisals are much less common in the aircraft industry. Courts and financial institutions are very familiar with USPAP, and many require an appraisal report that meets these standards.
